The X-Men: The Future Generation [Part 13]

'Did you see what he had on?' Alix was pacing around, thinking out loud. 'How could he have gotten that?' She looked at Chris. 'How?'

Chris shrugged. 'I'm not sure, but all I know is that you're not angry.'

'Should I be?'

'Usually in a situation like that, the girl would immediately--may I emphasize on the "immediately"--glare at the guy and say, "I thought you said it was your own design" or something like that. You obviously know more than you care to share.'

They were in the master bedroom, which just happened to be Chris's room [hey, he owned the house, okay]. Alix had a wry grin on her face. 'You don't feel it?'

Chris raised a perfect eyebrow. 'Feel what?'

'Drew,' Alix replied. 'He's hiding something from us. I just get bits and pieces off him, but I know enough that he obviously knows me very well in the future. You too,' she quickly added. 'He knows both of us in the future. He knows us very well. The bits I get from him, they're...' she hesitated, unsure of how to say it. 'Complex. It's all full of love and hope, it's so touching.

'I know,' Chris said. 'For my part, I don't get as much from him. He gives me an impression of being cocky, but understanding. I get love and admiration from him. Not as much hope, more admiration. Besides,' he thought about it. 'He reminds me of you.'

'Oh, now that's droll,' Alix had to laugh. 'I was just going to say that he reminds me of you. I mean, the same red hair, cockiness...' her voice trailed away. 'He couldn't be, could he?'

Chris had caught on. He was unsure. 'I don't know,' he said finally. 'Should we confront him?'

'About what?'

Both of them didn't even bother to look at the door. They knew who it was.

'Come in,' Chris invited. Drew entered and sat down on the bed. 'Alix, I...' Mommy, his inner voice said again. It felt weird calling Mom by her name. 'I...I'm sorry,' he blurted out, like a little kid. The way he spoke it made him sound extremely childlike, but Mom...Alix--he berated himself. Alix! Not Mom--seemed amused by it. It had been so long since he saw her smile like that.

'It's okay,' Alix replied softly. She had been looking out the window. Now she turned to him, and over him, to Chris. They exchanged looks. Should we ask him now?

Not yet, Chris decided. Let's wait a while. I want to know what he's up to.

Drew looked up. He knew that they were having their secret pow-wow thingy above his head. He respected that. 'So,' he said to break the silence. 'Do you know what you're going to do?'

Alix was silent. 'Do you?'

The young man inhaled sharply. How could she have known? How could they? He have guarded his mind fiercely, set up protective shields all around him, just like Mom and Dad taught him. How could they have known?

Then it hit him.

Just like Mom and Dad taught him.

Stupid, stupid Drew, he chided himself angrily.

As though she'd read hid thoughts, Alix spoke again. 'You do realize that it is easy for me to tear down a mind shield that I have taught you to do,' she faced him now. 'Don't you?'

Drew was silent a moment. 'How much do you know?' he said quietly.

'Not much,' Chris answered this question. 'But we know enough. Why did you come back to the past?'

'To save someone I loved very much,' Drew said bitterly, knowing it is useless to lie. 'Someone that passed on when I was fifteen.'

He felt a hand on his shoulder. It was Chris. Drew's mind flew backwards, back to his past, the day his mom died....

________________________________

'Mom!' Leo screamed, running into the room. His elder brother Barry was right behind him. Alix smiled at the sight. 'What's going on?'

'Leo's being mean,' Barry said sourly, pushing his red hair behind his ears. 'He took my stuff and he wouldn't give it back!'

Alix knelt down in front of her younger son. 'Leo, what did you take?'

'My baseball cards,' Barry supplied, surly. 'He took my baseball cards.'

'Leo,' Alix chided gently, her blue eyes turning just the slightest hint of black.
Return the cards to your brother, Leo.

Her younger son looked back at her.
But, Mom, I just wanted to play with them for a while. Is that even wrong?

Sighing, Alix stood up, took the cards and placed them on the book shelf. 'Come,' she told both boys, leading them into the kitchen. Her sons exchanged bemused looks as their mother opened the fridge and took out an assorted bag of nuts, a large slab of cooking chocolate and a bag of really chocolatey choco chips. Dumping them unceremoniously on the counter, Alix reached for a bag of flour and a jar of sugar on the shelf nearby. She looked at the boys. 'Both of you obviously need a lesson in sharing and caring. So let the lesson begin.'

And so it did. Turned out Alix was making choco chip cookies, and having her hands full between that and making dinner, she roped the boys in to help her. Of course, nothing could go on in the Ashford household without the other kids knowing about it. Sure enough, Drew and Lexa entered the kitchen, inhaling the sweet aroma of choco chip cookies. Soon, all the four kids were helping with dinner, and they were prepared for the Grand Event.

Lexa and Leo's eighth birthday party.

Drew remembered what happened. They were in the middle of dinner when they were attacked, the windows exploding along with the soft popping of bullets. Immediately Barry encased the family with a force field, but to his shock, his parents were unprotected. 'Mom!' he had yelled.

Alix let out a loud snarl as she sent the men flying with a wave of her hand. That's when she turned back to Drew. 'Get them out,' she had said, both verbally and telepathically, sending a wave of love towards her children. Then Chris grabbed his wife and kids and led them out the back way, leading them to the Horizon, their VTOL plane. He bundled the kids inside while Alix tapped furiously at the controls. The door of the Horizon shut behind them as the kids realized that their parents weren't going with them.

'Mommy!' Lexa screamed, holding her little brother. 'Daddy!' Tears fell from her eyes as the twins started sobbing hysterically. Barry was pounding at the door, but to no avail. Drew turned back, and locked gazes with his mom. Bring them out, he heard Alix's voice in his head. Bring your brothers and sister to the X-Mansion, Andrew.

Her son choked. She only called him Andrew when the situation was serious. Alix continued. Take care of the kids, ok? Love your brothers and sister, just like I loved mine.

Chris looked at his son. No matter what happens, don't let go, son. No matter what happens, don't let go.

'I won't, Dad,' Drew promised. He saw a smile on his father's face, a smile he'd never seen before but always wanted to see. His father was proud of his son. Stay safe, he said again, just as he pressed the button that started the Horizon. They had already set the coordinates, so all Drew had to do was drive the craft. 'Come on,' he urged his siblings, taking his place at the pilot's seat. He revved up the engines and nudged the craft forward as the hangar opened. He then took one last look at his parents, but he later came to regret it.

His parents were dying. Alix had been stabbed first; Chris then threw the guy away but he was immediately shot by another of the thugs. Drew watched as the first guy who stabbed his mom got up, and looked at the plane.

That's when Drew got his first good look at him, and he gasped.

It was Eddie Thomas, the mutant who was also known as Ed-Ray.

But that wasn't the main reason why Drew gasped.

It was because Eddie had been his mother's friend since forever, and because he was supposedly dead after a fight with the Brotherhood ten months ago.

The X-Men: The Future Generation [Part 12]

Previously on The X-Men: The Future Generation [Part 11]....

Summary: The Mansion is under attack but the person behind is not kown yet. Chris, Tia and Alix meet a stranger from the future, Drew Perry, who says he can help them. Who is the mysterious 18-year-old time-traveller?

_________________________________

Drew sat down on the window sill. All around him, people were walking around, discussing the latest events. How the peace and quiet of the past few days were shattered when the Mansion was broke in by God-Knows-Who, how to resolve it....Drew was getting quite sick of the whole thing.

They were in a very nice, very big house that belonged to Chris...and that Drew had grown up in. Closing his eyes, he relieved the memory from his past. The memory he'd always remember....

Year 2020, the Future.... [technically Drew's past]

Drew walked down the spiral staircase. The banister was decorated with streamers of all colours, and he winced. He was fifteen, for crying out loud. He was too old for banners.

But then he saw his mom. Alix Summers-Ashford, 5'10", still hot despite her age, carried a large cake into the dining room. She smiled when she saw him. 'Hey, Drew,' she gave him a hug. 'Happy fifiteenth.'

Drew grinned. 'Thanks mom.' His shirt was slightly opened at the neck, and Alix caught sight of the chain he wore. It was silver in colour, and it had a silver ring through it. Smiling, Alix took the ring and looked at it. She knew this ring. It was the ring Chris had given her on her eighteenth birthday, the first time he'd asked for her hand. They'd married a year later on October 1, the first day they met, which was also the same day Drew was born. They'd given him the ring as a covenant of their love. [Yes, I know, mushy love story over here, but hey, isn't that wat Min Yap and Megan wanted? *shrugs*]

Looking down, Drew saw what his mom had on her hand. 'Mom..' he started. Alix looked up and gave him a smile. 'Nothing, I was just...thinking. About what happened before we have you guys.' She patted his cheek and winced. Drew's senses immediately went on alert. 'Mom, are you okay?'

'Yeah,' Alix winced again. 'Nah, it's nothing. It's just another migraine. I'll be fine, okay?'

They were rudely interrupted by loud voices floating in from the garden, followed by several loud barks. Alix turned to her son. 'Don't tell your father about this, okay?' Drew nodded silently. 'I won't.'

'Good,' Alix said. 'Act surprised. Hey guys,' this was to the rest of the family who'd just came in. 'How was it?'

Chris, Drew's dad, dumped the things he'd been carrying on the nearest table top and gave his wife a peck on the cheek. 'Wonderful. We went to the shops, got some stuff for the party later on, and we're hungry.' He turned to Drew. 'Morning, son,' he tousled his hair. 'Happy fifteenth.'

'Thanks, Dad,' Drew grinned back. Chris knelt down to his son's eye level. 'Look, I know this is against the tradition of birthdays, but your mother and I wanted you to have this.' He held out a small package and gave it to Drew. 'Open it,' Chris suggested.

Eagerly, Drew ripped the package open. A small Zippo lighter fell onto his palm. He turned it around. There was a small inscription in silver finish: Angel.

Drew looked up. His parents had passed the legacy to him. Despite it didn't worth as much as a Rolex, it was the best present he could ask for. 'Thanks, Mom, Dad.'

'You're welcome,' Alix said. She looked at the three kids who were watching. 'Sorry for ignoring you, guys.'

'It's okay, Mom,' eight year old Lexa said, grinning. Chris let out a mock groan. 'Come, Peanut, let's go see what Mommy made for Drew.'

'I'm coming too,' Leo, Lexa's younger twin brother said firmly. Chris and Alix exchanged looks. 'Of course you're coming, Cub,' Chris said affectionally, using Leo's nickname, Lion Cub.

Alix had to smile. 'Come on,' she led Drew and her other son, Barry, who was a year younger than his big brother, into the kitchen. The table was filled with Drew's favourite foods, but the cake was given the place of honor. Everyone waited until Drew had cut the cake before giving him his presents.

The twins gave him a very nice watch [Drew wondered where they got enough money for something so expensive until he saw his mom laughing, and figured she'd probably sponsored a bit, okay, a lot for his gift.] Barry got him a T-Board that Drew always wanted to try out. 'Thanks, bro,' Drew said, bumping fists with his brother. Barry nodded. 'No prob, man.'

Drew looked at his parents. They were definitely hiding something. He sighed. 'Okay. What's going on?'

'Going on?' Chris and Alix blinked. 'We don't understand.'

'Puh-leaze,' Drew scoffed. 'I'm telempathic too, you know.'

'Hah,' Alix tried to tousled his hair but her son ducked out from her reach. 'Come on,' Drew whined. 'What's up?'

Chris held up a hand. He was holding a comlink, similar to the one he and Alix wore on their right hand middle finger. Drew took it. 'So? Dad, I already have one.'

'No this one,' Alix said. 'Your father spent the night trying to install a certain chip in this thing.' Drew's heart leaped. 'You mean--?'

'Yeah,' Chris nodded. 'You're now welcome to fly the Horizon whenever you want, son.'

'Cool!' Leo burst out. He turned to his big brother. 'Can we go for a ride now? Please....'

'Yeah,' Lexa joined in. 'Please...'

Drew stole a glance at his parents before facing his siblings. 'Why not?'

________________________________

Drew chuckled softly at the memory.

'Thinking back?' said a voice. Drew turned around, and found himself face-to-face with Alix Summers. Mom, a small voice inside of him said. Instead, Drew forced himself to remain passive. 'Just thinking. Is that a crime?' he sounded bitter, his voice dripping with sarcasm.

To his surprise, his mom looked stung by the comment. 'You don't have to act that way, you know,' she chided, still hurt. 'You can't hide anything from me.'

'Wanna bet?'

'Hey,' Chris came forward. Dad, Drew's inner voice said excitedly. 'Don't speak to her that way,' Chris continued. 'Apologize.'

'No, Chris, it's okay,' Alix looked at him. 'Drew?'

'Whatever, alright,' Drew got up and walked off. But not before Alix and Chris caught sight of the chain around his neck. It had a silver ring through it, the ring that Chris had used to propose to Alix on her eighteenth birthday. Exchanging looks, Alix's hand dipped into her shirt, and took out the exact same ring she wore on the exact same chain.

P.S. Hold you guys like it. Spent the whole day figuring out the whole plot.

The X-Men: The Future Generation [Part 11]

Previously on The X-Men: The Future Generation [Part 10]...

Then the stranger spoke, 'My name is Drew Perry. I'm from the future. And I'm here to help.'

____________________________________

Alix and Chris exchanged looks. Tia was confused. She was the first to react. 'How do we know this isn't a trick?'

Drew Perry looked hurt. You tell me, he voiced telepathically. Mom said you were smart. Figure it out.

Tia fumed. 'Who's your mom, kid?'

Drew sighed dramatically. 'I told you, I'm from the future,' he said again. 'I'm not even born yet.'
Alix and Chris were watching with interest, but the conversation was interrupted by a loud bang that echoed through the hallway. Alix peered out a window. 'They're breaking the door down,' she informed the others. 'We don't have time to waste.'

'Then, let's not waste any,' Chris remarked. 'Is everyone out?'

'Let me check,' Alix said quickly. Without waiting for an approval, she closed her eyes and called upon the mental map in her mind. She scanned the map, tracking down each signature blip that each boarder of the Mansion had. She opened her eyes after a while. 'They're all out. The labs and Sub-Levels are closed and shut down. The X-Men have taken the X-Jets, while the others took bikes, cars...you name it. Ari and Jay are leading everyone else to the safehouses.'

'In that case,' Tia remarked. 'We'd better get going.'

'Good idea,' Drew said. He was standing by a secret opening in the wall. 'After you.'

Alix shook her head. 'No, after you.'

'No, after you.'

'After you.'

'I said, after you!'

'And I said, I'm older here, so after you!' Alix gave him a shove, but she was laughing. The banging stopped, and the explosion that followed was so huge it shook the Mansion. Alix and Drew exchanged looks. 'After me,' they both said at once, trying to duck into the passageway at the same time, resulting in both of them knocking their heads together.

Tia sighed and walked towards them. She pulled both of them away and ducked in herself. 'Hey,' Alix didn't know whether to be angry or glad.

'Hold on,' Chris said. 'Let's buy us some time.' He focused on his hands. Two solid orbs appeared from nowhere. One was a fiery red, while the other was ice-blue. Closing his eyes, Chris combined them both into a multicolored fiery and icy orb. Drew was mesmerized. 'Ice and Fire,' he whispered in awe.

Grinning, Chris shot the orb out into the hallway, where it immediately formed into a physical barrier. Strands of electricity flowed through the barrier, crackling loudly. 'Okay,' Chris announced. 'Now we can go.'

P.S. Ok this time it's probably crappy coz I really couldn't wait to get to the part where another mutant from the future appears and they find out who Drew really is. But for those who've been reading, I guess u probably know already.

The Mages of the Gems [Part 2]

Well, okay....couldn't really think how did Lexa meet the others so I'll leave that to Louise to figure it out....erm, the summary's kinda like this: Lexa meets the others on her fourteenth birthday (they're all the same age: fourteen) which falls on the twelfth of December, and she founds out she has powers.

Well actually, Lexa has three types of powers: she's telempathic (or empathic whichever you like. They're all about the same thing [feeling and manipulating feelings] though empathic's more on the feeling, not manipulating side); she also possesses the ability to control fire and she...can talk to rocks and minerals.

Yeah. Rocks and minerals. When Louise told me I actually did a double take but no matter, I'm cool with it. Since Leo's Lexa's twin, it should be right that he has powers as well, though not a Mage. He's more of the fighting kind, and I gave him three powers: the ability to shift through different personalities, control thermals (ice and fire) and he's telekinesis. Despite their powers, though, Lexa and Leo uses their telempathic and telekinesis (respectively) as their main power.

Try to see if you can find the connection between the twins and their powers. XD

Ellyn Rivers groaned. 'Where do we go from here?'

It was mid-morning, and the sun was shining down heavily on them, forcing the girls to shade their eyes whenever they tried to see down the road.

'Hold on,' Shoe Westfern took out the Booke and flipped it open. She studied the contents eagerly. 'Uh, there's a village just down the road. About half a klick. We can board at the inn there.'

Skye let out a whoop. 'Oh yeah! This girl's gonna sleep in a proper bed tonight.'

'Maybe,' The latest member of the group, Lexa Field, was grim. 'Maybe not.'

Liora raised an eyebrow. 'What does that mean, Lex?'

Lexa shrugged. 'It means I don't know.' She shook her head. 'I have a bad feeling about this. A very bad one.'

Andrea Oakley wasn't bothered. All she could think about was soft, warm beds, contary to the hard ground they've been sleeping on through bedding they'd laid on the ground. 'Look, Complexa, I don't know what's up with you, but I'm gonna get some sleep at the inn tonight. Feel free to join us.' With that, she linked arms with Skye and walked down the rest of the way.

Lexa scowled. 'Complexa? Now I know she hates me,' she said sarcastically. She folded her arms again. Shoe sighed. 'You were kinda hard on her.'

'What?' Lexa did a double take. 'Kinda hard on who? Face it. It's reality. I know what I felt. Deal with it.' She shot coldly.

Ellyn exchanged looks with Liora and Shoe. 'Well, that was harsh,' Ellyn said. Lexa scowled again, and lifted the hood of her calf-length navy long coat over her head. 'I am not the enemy here.'

'Yeah,' Liora said. Without a word, Lexa walked off after Skye and Andrea. Shoe was hesitant. 'Should we keep an eye on her?'

'Yes,' Ellyn said. 'Without a doubt.' She turned to her teammates. 'Do we tell Skye and Andrea?'

'No,' Liora said, looking at Lexa's retreating back. 'It doesn't matter.'
_____________________________________

'Yes it does!' Andrea was shouting at the occupants of the table next to theirs when Liora, Shoe and Ellyn walked in. Skye was laughing, obviously in high spirits, while Lexa was sipping calmly from a mug of ale. She looked up when the three entered, before turning her attention back to the loaf of fresh bread on a platter in front of them.

Sitting down, Ellyn took the bread and broke a piece for herself. She jerked her head at Andrea. 'What's she shouting about?'

Skye laughed. 'Andrea had a bet with some guy that she could finish a mug of ale in less than 30 seconds. The bet was five gold pieces. The guy gulped his drink down in less than two minutes, and knowing Andrea, she didn't want to lose so...'

'She froze the whole inn and gulped the ale down before she unfroze them,' Lexa interjected quietly. Skye nodded at the looks of surprise on the others' faces. 'Well, she's demanding her gold but the guy said it didn't count. So now they're arguing.' Skye swung around in her seat to get a closer look at the argument.

Shoe was horrified. 'Skye,' she said in a hush whisper. 'Can she do that? I mean,' she looked at the others for support. 'Isn't there something like, oh, I don't know, Personal Gain?' she shot the last two words in an angry hiss.

'Chill,' Andrea said, coming over with five gold pieces. 'I've got it all covered. Innkeeper,' she said. 'Bring us some food.'

'Coming right up,' called the innkeeper, a jovial man named Horans. His wife, Kia, and his son Oairn served the food, laying plates of sweetmeats and cakes on the table, along with something Kia called Iremiris. 'I just made it,' she announced gaily. 'It's an old family recipe, given by my ancestors to travellers. Iremiris is good for the body, it is said, and for those who travel, it is--'

'--the best thing they could have,' Oairn finished his mother's sentence, grinning. Kia blushed before bustling back into the kitchen. Looking around, Oairn pulled up a stool and sat down beside Ellyn. 'You're a little young to be travelling alone, aren't you?'

It was now Ellyn's turn to blush. Oairn was actually quite good-looking but, regretfully, it was something she didn't need right now. Loira and Skye were smirking, while Shoe and Andrea exchanged looks. Lexa didn't look up. Even with her hood up, with her...friends? No, she correctly herself silently. She didn't have any friends. Comrades, then. It was less personal. With her comrades around her, she still felt vulnerable.

And it was hurting her. No, not the vulnerability. It was Oairn and Ellyn. Lexa winced quietly. Their flirting triggered something in her that was giving her migraines. Her telempathy was working up again, and she couldn't control it.

Liora was the first to notice. She glanced at Lexa. Lex, are you okay?

Yeah, Lexa replied back telepathically. It's just a soft migraine, nothing much---Ahh!

Liora shuddered as she felt the full impact of the migraine through their psionic link. For a while she got a sense of what Lexa had to endure everyday. Then she felt a soothing presence and the pain gradually lessened until it was completely gone. Lexa, however, was still in pain, and Liora figured she'd deliberately took away the pain from Liora and transferred it back to herself.

Lex, Liora tried again. Beside her, Shoe started to notice what was going on, and she reached out to hold Lexa's hand, but was stopped by a soft whisper. Please, Lexa said softly. No physical contact. I don't wanna hurt you.

Now Shoe and Liora were connected to Lexa by the psi-link. They sent comforting thoughts her way as she struggled against the pain. After a while she felt better. 'Thanks,' she whispered quietly, the link between the three of them broken. Then she felt it, an emotion she hadn't felt for more than a year.

A very familiar emotion.

Standing up abruptly, Lexa startled the whole table, including Oairn and Ellyn, who were busy flirting. 'I'm going out for some air,' she announced, walking out the door. Oairn glanced after her. 'Is she okay?'

'Yeah,' Skye hastened to reassure him. 'She's just got some problems on her mind right now.' She glanced out the door. 'She'll be fine.'

Outside, Lexa shivered in the night air, pulling her coat closer to her.

'Lexi?'

Hearing her name, Lexa turned around. There was only one person in the whole world who called her Lexi, and it wasn't a member of her family.

'Christophe?' Lexa breathed. There was a soft rustle, and a man walked out of the shadows. He was tall, and his hair was red brown, but his eyes were grey. He looked to be around eighteen years of age, four years older than Lexa.

Stepping forward, he stopped short when a lone falcon opened its mouth in a loud cry, before landing on Christophe's gloved hand. 'Hello, Anduin.' The falcon flapped its wings before taking off into the night. Christophe turned his attention back to Lexa, who was watching the falcon with such admiration.

'Anduin is lucky,' Lexa said finally. 'He goes wherever he wishes, beholden to none.'

'Beholden to me, you mean,' Christophe said, smiling softly. 'How have you been, Lexi?'

'Let's see,' Lexa said sarcastically. 'I'm alive, Leo's taken over the Rodarin and oh yeah, my parents are dead. How do you think I've been, Christophe? How?'

Christophe was strangely sympathetic.'Lexi, I know how you're feeling right now. But right now you have to listen to me.' He paused. 'Leave now. And don't come back. There's something wrong with this place as you've felt. Please, go.' He disappeared from view, leaving her curious about what was wrong.
__________________________________________
Leave now. Christophe had said. Don't come back. But how could she resist? That night, determined to find some answers, Lexa walked into the town after dark, everywhere else as silent as the grave.

1407 Graymalkin Lane, Salem Center, located in the very northeast corner of Westchester County. This is the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning, formerly Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters.

Enter the mansion, and you'll find yourself in the foyer, or front hall [ok, so I'm making it up. Sue me]. Past the classrooms, into an elevator at the end of the corridor. Step inside, and you'll find yourself heading down.

To the Sub-Basements.

The Sub-Basements consists of several important rooms, amongst them the Danger Room, the War Room, and the labs where Dr. Jean Grey and Dr. Henry McCoy [in the comics only, I'm afraid].

But the most important of them all was the Cerebro Chamber. And it is now in this chamber that our two main leads are conversing quietly in whispers.

'He said they killed them,' Alix Summers was saying. Next to her, Chris Perry sighed softly. 'Alix, you couldn't save them. You had no way of knowing.'

'But I had!' she shot back angrily. 'I'm the empath. I should have kept track of everyone. I can't afford to lose anyone. I can't afford to lose my family.' Her voice softened. 'And I really can't afford to lose control again.'

Chris laid a hand on her shoulder and focused on his empathic abilities. Within seconds Alix calmed down. She shook her head. 'But it doesn't make any sense. What does the Brotherhood have to do with Optical and David slash Lucas? What does it have to with Gambit or Alison?'

'You're forgetting one thing,' Chris added gently. 'What does it have to do with you? Why is it affecting you? It's affecting both of us. And I don't think we have a choice. We have to know what's going on.'

Alix forced a dry smile. 'How? Besides, I doubt that anyone would've heard of Optical. Like you said, it's affecting both of us...' she trailed away as she looked at him. 'Both of us....Chris? Is there something you're not telling me?'

Chris mentally kicked himself. 'I've been having weird dreams lately,' he confessed. 'Most of them are about kids, but they focus more on this particular kid. Red hair, blue-grey eyes, tall, about 18 years of age.' He gave a soft smile. 'Reminds me of me, actually.'

Alix started to answer him, but an alarm sounded throughout the building. Exchanging looks, both rushed up the elevator and immediately jabbed the button for the top floor. When the doors opened, the whole place was in chaos. Alix grabbed hold of a student running past her. It was Tia.

'Alix,' Tia screamed. 'Something's happening. It's like Colonel Strucker all over again, according to Rogue and Dr. Grey, but worst. They want everyone to go to the safehouse.'

All of a sudden, a huge vortex appeared out of nowhere, and a boy climbed out of it. He was tall, around 18 years of age, with red hair, and blue-grey eyes. Alix blinked as she realized she'd just described him the same way Chris did. She sensed mild confusion from Chris, but she closed her mind to it as she focused on the young stranger. The moment their minds connected, she felt a strange instinct. It was very mature, and it appeared to be maternal. But it wasn't possible that he was her son. Was it?

The stranger looked at her, and Alix realized that they were both simultaneously checking out each other against a mental picture, and again she felt another wave of maternal love from him. Judging by Chris' feelings through the psi-link, Alix knew he felt the same thing.

Abruptly, the emotions stopped flowing through the psi-link. The young boy had cut off the connection, which was making Alix quite curious. It took more force than a 18 year old could have to shield his mind against her, what more cut off her link. Not even her mother Jean could cut off her link like that. He was quite the young mutant.

Then the stranger spoke. 'My name is Drew Perry. I'm from the future. And I'm here to help.'

P.P.S. I know it's very much like the Charmed episode Chris-Crossed, but what can I say? I really like Drew Fuller, who is, incidentally, Drew Perry's namesake. Astonishing how a father and son can be named after the same actor/character. If u dun understand, Drew Fuller played Chris Perry Halliwell on Charmed.

The Impossible Quiz....Hmmmmm

Today Timmy introduced me to the Impossible Quiz. It's really stupid, but he said if I managed to get to the end, he'll do whatever I say. The X-Men: The Future Generation [Part 9]

Year 2023, the Future...

Drew Ashford clicked the silver Zippo lighter in his hand and opened it, barely glancing at the bright red flame that emerged. His thoughts were elsewhere, though he was sitting on the broad window sill. There was a soft cough, and he turned around.

'Drew?' It was his younger brother, Barry. Drew stood up. 'What?'

Barry shook his head. 'I couldn't find anything. I'm sorry.'

Drew clicked the lighter shut. It was a legacy, ever since his dad have presented his mother with a similar lighter. His mother had in turn shared it with him. Now they were gone, and he was in charge of the family.

'Okay,' he said. 'Where're the twins?'

'Lexa's outside with Michael,' Barry explained. 'You know how much she loves the fall.' Drew nodded. He knew. They all did. Mom and Dad loved the fall. During the time they would make apple pies and have lemonade; Dad would burn sweet-smelling apple wood in the fireplace. They would snuggle close to Mom and Dad, and Drew was hit with a pang of nostalgia as he remembered the smell of herbs and toast that Mom always had around her, while Dad always smelt of apple and lemon. He inhaled again, inhaling the scent of their childhood.

'What about Leo?'

Barry hesitated. 'He's with Lex. Drew, I know you're under hugh pressure, but...if we could just...'

'Could just what?' Drew growled. 'We're supposed to look after the rest of the students. The rest of Professor Xavier's students. Mom and Dad's extended family. And we failed. I failed.' The last was whispered in an undertone.

Barry grimaced. Ever since Optical had laid the attack on them, Drew was experiencing night terrors again. So were the twins. So was he, Barry. Night terrors were common in this family.

Abruptly, Drew stepped towards the mantelpiece, where there was a family picture. Mom, Dad, Drew, Barry, Lexa and Leo. The Ashfords. He remembered how youthful Mom looked, how Dad was always able to do whatever task that was required of him. He remembered his fifteenth birthday, where he recieved permission to fly the Horizon, Mom and Dad's custom made VTOL plane. And then he knew the answer to his prayers.

He had to go back to the past.

P.S. I know this isn't very long but trials are just around the corner and I was in a hurry. Dun worry though, i'll finish part 10 soon enough.

It was in the last evening. There were five figures seen resting under a shady tree. Jarda Corrae Skye, who prefered to be known by her last name, was one of the young fourteen year olds; she was the fiery one of the group, which was fitting, considering that she weilded the power of pyrokinesis and, at a lesser level, telekinesis. She was now sitting on the ground, petting her black wolf, Kio. Turning around, she glanced at her best friend, Shoe Westfern. 'Is the fire done yet?'

'Hold on,' Shoe shot back. Wondering again for the hundredth time what Shoe's name was short for, Skye got up and stretched her legs. 'If you can't do it, you could always ask for help.'

Shoe got to her feet. 'Okay. I'm asking.' She crossed her arms. Grinning, Skye got over to the small pile of wood and focused on her power. All of a sudden, a burst of fire came from nowhere, crackling merrily as though it'd been burning for quite a while.

'You, my dear, might be the keeper of the Booke of Magic,' Skye winked. 'But I am still the firestarter here. You should thank me.'

'And you, Skye, should thank Shoe for bringing you to Una in the first place,' a voice interrupted cheerily. Both looked up to see their other friends coming forward. There was Liora Ember, who was brought up in a non-magic community, but yet was the most gifted. She also had control over fire, but hers was a lesser control. Her healing powers and telepathy made up for it though.

Skye scowled. 'And what's that supposed to mean, Liora?'

Ellyn Rivers trudged down the small slope after Liora. 'She means, if Shoe hadn't brought you to her grandmother, you'd never found out that you're a Mage. If you didn't know you're a Mage, you couldn't possibly understand your fire power as well on your own. You owe Shoe.'

'Aha!' Shoe remarked triumphantly. Next to her, Andrea Oakley was smiling. 'Yeah, yeah, well, at least someone got the fire going.' She glanced at the night sky. It was dark. 'It looks like it'll be snowing soon.'

'Well,' Liora was busy stirring a pot of stew. 'Let's hope it won't last long.'

A young girl of fourteen looked out of her room. Outside, it was snowing, but she could still see the beautiful flowers that grew in the compound of her house. Piethir, they were called, in the language of the Rodar, but the plants were actually cherry blossoms. The girl smiled dreamily, but her expression froze as she caught sight of the small troop of horsemen riding up the hill to her house, which was at the top of the hill.

Grinning, the girl ran down the stairs as fast as she could, almost knocking her mother off her feet at the foot of the stairs.

'Heavens, child, you'll be the death of me someday!' her mother, Gwyn, exclaimed. 'Lexa,' this time in a sterner voice. 'Where do you think you are going?'

'Papa's back,' Lexa said quickly. 'I saw him coming, along with the Rodarin.'

'Really?' Lexa's twin brother, Leo said, coming from the kitchen. 'The Rodarin are back?'

Their mother smiled at their smiles. 'Go, then. Invite them in for a meal.' She gave a gentle push. The twins needed no more encouragement. They immediately ran out the front door just as their father, Siroc, dismounted from his horse.

'Lexa,' Siroc said, embracing his children. 'Leo! You've grown so tall.'

The twins grinned, but their attention was fixed on another behind their father. 'Amryn!'

Amryn of the Dell smiled as his niece and nephew ran to him, each wanting his undivided attention. He exchanged looks with his brother, and Siroc gave a small shrug.

'Amryn,' Leo said. 'How was the Ride of the Rodarin?'

'Enough of talking out here in the cold,' Gwyn had came out, wondering why the twins were taking so long. 'Please, enter. There's food and hot drinks waiting.'

'You heard that, Rodarin?' Amryn roared. 'Food--courtesy of our lord Siroc.'

All entered the house.
