Top 8 Superpowers

If I were a superhero, what would my powers be?

1. Telempathy
Notice, it's telempathy with an m, not telepathy. There's a difference. Telempathy is tele-empathy (sensing people's emotions and manipulating them) while telepathy is just reading minds.

Why I'd like to have it:
Have you heard of Emma deLauro? She's from Mutant X, and she's absolutely lovely. As a psionic, she has this uncanny ability to sense and manipulate the emotions of other people, but her range has always exceeded this one facet of psionics, since she demonstrated the ability to create illusions when she's only supposed to manipulate feelings. In another episode, she makes people feel as if they're choking. Note: Fear and panic are emotions. Suffocation is not. Neither for that fact is blindness, which she did on GS agents. She's also displaying signs of telepathy, and in Season 2, her power expands to the point where she emits a wave of fear, and later easily erases her teammate's memory. If that's what telempathy is going to evolve into, I want it all.

Pros:
You get to mess with people's head. Make them think they're seeing something they're not. You can insult/yell at someone one minute and erase their memory the next.

Cons:
Invasion on Privacy. I think they can sue you for that, but hey, what's the big deal when you can blast them with some mind-controlling emotion?

2. Light Manipulation

Why I'd like to have it:
Lexa Pierce, also from Mutant X. She bends light around her to make her invisible, shoots light from her fingers as well as set things on fire. Basically a very cool upgrade from your typical firestarting qualities. With the invisibility, who knows how many pranks you can play? : ) Besides, it kinda reminds me of Cyclops. I love Hugh Jackman but I'd preferred it if they didn't kill of Cyke. James Marsden, hello?

Pros:
We are talking about a blast of light energy that could probably go up to 15.7×1 to the power of 6 K (temperature of Sun's core). Light energy that consists not only of visible light but possibly even the other light waves in the electromagnetic spectrum! What can possible stand against that? You're undefeated -- unless, of course, you're face to face with a black hole. In that case, there's nothing anyone can do.

Cons:
I haven't figured out this bit yet. Still thinking...

3. Rogue's power from X-Men

Why I'd like to have it:
It's a very superior power, actually. You literally tap into people's powers: touch them and you get their abilities, albeit temporarily. Besides, I love Anna Paquin.

Pros:
You get to work with a wide variety of powers. With just a touch, you can be telekinetic (Jean Grey), shoot lasers from your eyes (Cyclops), control the weather (Storm), and have metal claws popping out from your knuckles (no guesses who this is).

Cons:
There's also a tiny, fine-print condition where you touch people for too long, and you might end up killing them. So that spells the end of a romantic relationship. Unless you're the type that enjoys kissing with a sheet of cloth/cling wrap in between to prevent any contact. Result: Social outcast.

4. Flight

Why I'd Like to have it:

Yes, flight is a very commonplace, stale kinda superpower. But who hasn't spent at least a minute of two thinking, what if I could fly? Somehow this flight power started surfacing after I had an insanely crazy thought on what it would be like to jump off a building. Not to commit suicide, but to just experience what it'd be like to actually be suspended mid air before you come crashing down to Earth. And no, it's not the Superman kind of flight where you just put two arms straight out and you fly. Nope, it's the kind where you have wings instead of hands...sorry, it's coming out wrong. It's just that everytime I try to imagine flying with wings, my imaginary self immediately morphs into a bird.

Pros:
Imagine if you also had the ability to stretch time a little bit while in flight. So you just could jump down from the bed to the floor, but that time-essence thing will slow it down for you so you feel as if you're actually flying when in real life it just takes a second. Inspiration for this idea: Will be portrayed in my second trailer featuring Russell.

Cons:
Like someone said, what happens if the speed of your flying is the same as the speed of your running or walking? Not very fun then, would it?

5. Teleportation

Why I'd like to have it:

Kurt Wagner and his adorable German accent. (I suddenly have a urge to name my future son Kurt) Uh, who else? Chris Perry from Charmed and his orbing.

Pros:
You get to go anywhere you like. No airplane ticket, no fuss. Just pack your bag and poof! You're in Miami. Also very handy when you encounter bullies/robbers and all that.

Cons:
You can't tell anyone. Why? Firstly, you'll notice that once you tell them, they'll think you're mad. Next, even if some of them keeps your secret and thinks it's cool, they're going to be paranoid wondering if you will break into their house or something like that. Telekinesis and telempathy, even light-bending are easy to explain; people disappearing and reappearing in different places in a split second are not.

6. Pyrokinesis/Cryokinesis/Thermal

Why I'd like to have it:

Okay, pyrokinesis = manipulating fire. Cryokinesis = manipulating ice. Thermalkinetic = both. But somehow I still think fire's a nicer option than the others. Both at once is just too much. It's like they cancel out each other.

Pros:
You get to play with fire and not get burned! (Somehow I think it'd be really pointless to be a pyrokinetic and get yourself burned by it. Shouldn't you be immune to your own powers?) Or win grand prize at the World's Fastest Ice-Sculpting Contest. Or do both simultaneously and get into the Guiness World Book of Records!

Cons:
Well, let's see. There's a law against arson. (I'm gonna focus more on pyrokinesis). People might freak out when they see you holding a ball of fire in hand. I don't know. Personally I'd like this power.

7. Superior Intelligence and Reflexes

Why I'd Like to have it:

Note: Superior intelligence, not genius. What I mean by this power was, you have the capability to learn at an extremely fast rate. Like, you pick up karate in less than two weeks. I'm not going to say pick it up immediately, like some guy does it and you can copy him instantly, but you pick things up relatively faster compared to others. Reflexes on the other hand...you're able to move fast enough to dodge maybe a punch or a kick or, with lots of practice, a bullet, but it'll take quite a bit to be able to dodge someone with super speed. Or someone who's throwing light at you. Funny, really, how all the shows portray people with superhuman speed but they're not that fast.

Pros:
You'll be able to learn and master stuff that would take normal people ages just to understand. Like finishing college in three months, something like that. You'll also be a great martial artist.

Cons:
You don't actually have a real superpower. You'll have to learn everything from scratch.

8. Telekinesis

Why I'd like to have it:

Telekinesis is brilliant. You know what people say about manipulating fire, water, air....The thing about TK is that it's so general and specific at the same time. It's basically the core of every other superpower! I mean, with TK you can manipulate fire, lift rocks into air, shape water into objects...you can do this because TK is the heart of every manipulating power. As long as you master it, you could probably use TK to break the bonds between atoms/molecules/ions and disintegrate a whole building! Talk about bringing down the house!

Pros:
Listed above. Even flying is just using TK on yourself!

Cons:
Like some people said, it's possible with TK that you'll only be able to lift your own weight. Furthermore, TK's a very common power.

I was going to make it top 10 but realized I was running out of ideas. So yeah. Tell me your favourites and I'll see if I can do something with them.
P.S. Favourite powers not necessarily have to be the ones I listed above. Feel free to give suggestions. Be creative!
